With the Lockout weighing everybody down and still looking like it’s going to eat into the season at least, America just can’t satisfy our desire for contact sports. And don’t float me the CFL either. I refuse to acknowledge anything with a 55 yard line.
But hey, there’s always Futbol, right? There’s…pretend contact in that. And that US women’s soccer team. Sure is…Scoring goals! Am I right? They won the…game! Or match! Or whatever!
Anyway, the same friendly folks that brought you that WoW graphic last week are back with a financial comparison of the two wonderful sports.
Our friends at Video Game Design Collages sent us over this thing. Tune in next week when I begin my slog through all the Wrath of the Lich King dungeons you got tired of running after the first time (but ran 11 billion more times anyway).
This graphic was designed by Lorena O’Neal, you can check out more of her work here.
When you are out there trying to slowly figure out why your expert NFL betting picks have gone so wrong, especially when you take the Indianapolis Colts, you don’t have to go that far to realize the problem.
Last season when the Colts reached the Super Bowl they were unstoppable and everybody was talking about how Peyton Manning was the big thing and how he was the best quarterback ever. But every freaking years this happens, if is not Manning, it is Brady or Roethlisberger, but we never realize the most important personnel that actually surrounds them, which is their offensive line.
This season Manning’s offensive line is not the same, as he doesn’t get the protection that he needs and he is failing to prove how good he is. You can tell that Roethlisberger, Vick or Brees don’t need a great O-line because they are going to scramble around and make the play. Brady is so smooth and calm that he won’t force a throw that could lead to mistakes, but instead Manning can’t scramble and will try to force a throw.
Do you remember how Peyton Manning was hit twice in the Super Bowl? Well neither do I, but the Colts general manager Bill Polian was outraged and that lead to the guard Ryan Lilja being fired. Now the Colts don’t have anybody to block the run and with Dallas Clark’s injury, they can open holes for the running game consistently.
The Colts are not a good bet for the upcoming future, as their defense is small, their offensive schemes are flat, and if Peyton Manning doesn’t get protection he needs, he is useless.

That’s ok, though. Here’s Peyton in happier times. You know. When he knew the names of the people lining up around him.
